I am using Vivitar 285HV and 580EX II both on wireless trigger CTR-301 and I have noticed that Vivitar misfires a lot, like 2 out of 3 times.:mad::)
I am pretty sure my transmitters are ok, I have used them before and did not have as many misfires as I got with Vivitar.
Do you know waht may be a problem?
Thanks!

i have 2 vivitar 285s and 2 of those same transmitters and I was experiencing the same problem, It seems one of my flashes favors a specific transmitter, Because when i switched the transmitters on the flashes it fired 100% of the time. Very strange i thought so now i have to mark them so i know what transmitter goes to what flash.

This is really strange. My 580EX II has zero problem with any transmitter, I will try to play with them. What power settings do you use them? Have you noticed for example it misfires more on 1/16 than 1/2?

I will have to try with fresh set of batteries too.

I think that battery thing is correct, today i was using them with the designated receivers and they started to fail again. Then i notice that the red lights on the receivers were lighting up 100% of the time yet the flash would not fire all the time. So i figured it had to be something wrong with the flash. i replaced the batteries and they worked perfectly. this may get very annoying because the batteries that i replaced were know where near dead and i was still getting good recycle times.

I have replaced batteries on Vivitar with newly charged Powerax and it fires every time now.

I have had problems with my cheap Radio slaves before. I seem to have fixed them. One I use fresh batterys. Two I bought a couple of these which seem to work better then either the mess of adaptors I was using or pluging into the pc outlet on the receivers. (the pc outlet on mine seem to be a bit loose and don't seem to be sturdy enough)

I got a couple of these last night and set up my 285hv and fired it off about 50 times and only time I had misfires was when I tried to fire off the flash before it was recycled. In the past that many flashes would have resulted in probably at least 10 misfires. John
