This is the first picture I have posted, so I hope I resized it correctly without damaging the quality too much. This shot of happy seagulls was taken by someone else at a job I had at the Farallon Islands off of Northern California. Thought it might be of interest to the nature shooters here.

Yeah, I had a little trouble getting the re-size right so that the file was accepted. It's actually a high res shot from a compact camera, but the original looks pretty good. Too bad the boat was on the wrong side of the action.

By the way, that's whitey that created this feeding opportunity for the birds---courtesy of a former sea lion.

This shot was taken from a small boston whaler. There are quite a few white sharks at the Farallons, similar to that Island in SA and a few spots down your way in OZ.

How'd the gulls make out? Did they lose any appendages

No, CDS. I think they are kind of like tickbirds on a water buffalo. I didn't have my 20D yet when I was out there at the end of last year. It's a crying shame because there were so many opportunites to take shots of elephant seals calving, etc.
I'm supposed to go back out again at some point, and will bring all the gear this time.
P.S. Not trying to gross anyone out with the shark photo. Just thought it was somewhat unusual.
