I'm just starting to get interested in multiple flash photography and had a question about the 580EX II master/slave compatibility.
Could someone tell me if the 580EX II, used as the Master Flash, has the capability to control 3 additional 580EX II's in the High Speed Flash mode?
Thanks....

Yes. I control a 430 EX II, a 430 EX and a 420 EX with my 580EX II.
I haven't done much HS stuff, and of course the 420 doesn't support it... so, can't tell you definitively.

Yes, but they don't have to all be 580EX IIs.

The master 580 can control 3 groups, and you can put many EX slaves in each group :)

I wish the ST-E3 had the same capability - It can only control 2 groups, which sucks.
I don't run into issues with only two groups, but I can think of scenarios where it'd be nice to have three. I can always put my 580 on the camera and control my 3 other flashes with that... but, I hate using my 580 in that way, it feels "dirty".

I knew the old ST-E2 could control groups A and B only, but I thought the new ST-E3 was a step up?
