Has anyone used one? Do you recommend them? Where did you get it? Etc.
I want to do portraits of my baby who doesn't quite sit up by himself yet. I figure a remote where I can let him go for a second and shoot is the way to go. Just never used one before.

I use the Canon RC-1, it has a switch which allows you to select a delayed release or release the shutter immediately. It's really small and can be clipped onto the camera strap when not in use so you don't lose it. I think its great.

I have the RC-5. The wireless remote works great. There's a 2-sec delay from the press of the remote to the actual shot.

I use an RC-1 on my 300D which I have had for years - bought with my EOS 100! - works fine, I agree wtih Nitsch.

I have the infrared remote and I paid like $22 or $23 at a local shop. Definitely worth the cost for long exposure shots, shots at full extension on your zoom etc.

Thanks a lot! I noticed that B&H says the RC-1 can be either instant or 2 second delay. Is that true? Or does it always delay due to the wireless technology?

I believe Nitsch confirmed that the RC-1 can be set for instant or delay. Cool little gadget.

There is an aftermarket wireless remote available now. They have a range of 30m & 100m. Here is a link: http://canoncable.com

I use the RC-1 with both my 300D and my Elan 7N, I use it set to instant, works fantastic...it's likely the best $20 I ever spent on a piece of camera gear so, so, useful. I'm always in the group photos now if we have a place to set the camera (tripod, rock, etc.)
And like others have said it clips to the camera strap so you are never without it.
