So, I was on my honeymoon last week in the British Virgin Islands. We were on a day sail, I was taking pictures like always, of everything. The boat owner asked if he could use my pictures on his webpage which he plans on re-doing. Photography is merely a hobby for me and I was taking the pictures anyway so I agreed. (My apologies to all that this offends)

I posted an assortment of pictures in a separate gallery on my webpage and told him to let me know which ones he wants and I will e-mail him the files as long as I get credited for the photography. (Figured maybe I will make a name for myself in the BVI and other boat owners will invite me down to photograph their boats, hah)

So my question how should I watermark the images, not how to create a watermark, but how do I word it? Photo by me, Photo (C) Me 2009.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

FWIW, The only PP that was done on the images was to bump the sharpness in DPP, which was a select all, increase sharpness so I didn't really waste any of my time on these.

Thanks

First, congrats on the images being used. Second, you could watermark it however you want. I assume you're talking about watermarking only the uploaded images and not the final images. I would go with (c) 2009 AirRick2 the Photography Guy. I would substitute the last part with your real name, if I were you.;) Good luck with getting business in BVI. Don't forget your friends.................

...of the complete strangers on POTN.

Also, congrats on the nuptials.

Thanks for your input and congratulations.....

I was however, referring to putting a small watermark in the bottom corner of the final images that he is going to be using. Granted if he really wanted could crop them out, but judging from his current webpage he's doesn't come off that techno-savvy. I was thinking of using Photo by Eric Darlington (c) 2009 www.ericdarlington.com

Something like this?

IMHO, if he's willing to give you credit, I wouldn't watermark the image. I'm sure others will disagree. You already gave him usage of the image. However, if you do use the watermark, make it a contrasting color. You have black on the red boat and it's rather hard to read.

HA! :D Because you know it does... That's funny.

Indeed congrats on the photos and your new marriage!

I would watermark them, unless he asks you specifically for new images without. And yes, include your website, but as stated, make it more legible, maybe even bigger. Why? Because you said he doesn't seem technically savy, so giving proper credit appropriately might not happen... If you already have it on there, that's one less thing he has to worry about doing... He ought to be cool with that since you are giving him free images to help promote his business...

Well they are sent off so lets see how many hits my website gets in the next couple of days, hopefully I will be moving to the Caribbean soon to pursue my career as a professional photographer.

I used a combination of white and black watermarks in the corner of the picture with the least interest. He is going to put them on his webpage and use them as a slideshow to inspire (my word) customers.

So how did this turn out?

Can you give us a link to his website so we can view the images there?

Wow, I saw that I was subscribed to this thread and couldn't remember what it was. Back from the dead.

He primarily wanted to use them as promo material. The resorts hold meet and greats for the newly arriving guests to plan their vacation adventures. He wanted to use them as a slide show on his laptop during that.

Looks like he had put one photo up on his website (http://www.spiritofanegada.com/boat.php)however. The top photo is mine (not the header)
