Looking at it again, I think you might could even do a tighter crop. Maybe just above the ear and just below the finger nail. just a thought.

I think it would look too weird if it was cropped anymore, nice shot.

It would've been nice to get a "woff" of smoke in it, but otherwise, I think the b&w is a good idea

I like your crop, but lighting does not work for me here...

I would convert this to B&W and then play a bit with shadows/highlights...looking at it as it is, it is more the white T-shirt and his ear that capture my eye...
