View Full Version : Hired an unexperienced photographer = not one decent photo = hired me to take new

Even though it is a bit unusual to shoot wedding portraits a Tuesday evening these photos surely prove that it isn’t necessary to take the photos on the wedding day to get great shots! The story behind these photos is however quite sad because the bride called me half crying a couple of weeks ago and told they hadn't any good photos at all from their hired non-professional wedding photographer. She asked me if I could help them and sure, of course I wanted to!

To you who weren’t with us when we took these photos I can tell we were in mosquito land… on one of these photos the bride had 7 mosquitos sucking blood on her arm. To bad it isn’t so easy to get rid of them in reality as it is in Photoshop!

And yes - I know these are very small... it's the same size as the photos on by blog (I will launch a new site soon!) and I was to lazy to upload new just for this site... sorry!

By the way, I have more photos on my blog, feel free to comment both here and on the blog!

Nice pictures and interesting story. Very nice expressions from the B&G in all of them, what I can see anyway, as you already mentioned they are a bit small.

1 and 5 dont really work for me, 5 is better than 1 which just confused me to start with until I realised it was two separate pics, may be more obvious at larger sizes.

I am sure they will be happy with them. Sucks that the couple had to go through that.

nice photo set, i am glad you were able to help that poor girl out, nothing better then to have great photos of before getting married to look back on as they grow old together

Nice looking images; a wonderful setting, too.

This should be posted out on Craigs List as a fair warning to brides looking for a super-bargain.

did you get to see any of the " bad pictures" ? I take it they paid for your session? Just curious how you handled this case on a business level.

Yes, I have seen some of the photos and I was also asked if I could "save" one of them because that one they actually liked apart from the fact that is was both extremly under exposed and over exposed at the same time. The photo was taken in bright sun in the middle of the day, they were standing by the sea, white glossy dress, dark blue uniform, her face and dress was facing the sun and he was in the shadow, obviously no fill flash or additional lightning... you do the math... :-/).

Yup, they have to pay me but because I was able to do this shot on a non busy Tuesday night without a lot of pre planning and booking meetings I have accepted to charge them only what I would have charged for a non wedding portrait session. I am pretty sure it will be good business for me anyway, at least considering the goodwill it will create amongst their friends and family!
