I shot my first wedding last friday, and to be honest I was a little nervous and stressed at first.

But I think it went well and the ceremony was great and she looked beautiful.

Well here is a few from the wedding that I have so far edited up.

That was just as she had gotten out of the car.

Hmmm, well . . . I have a long and well deserved history of being critical, not to be mean but in the interest of learning and growing, so here goes:

#1: It took me a few moments to realize what I was looking at. This is a difficult shot to pull off and I don't think it works here. A polarizing filter would have taken some of the glare out the glass that makes her nearly invisible. Also, you should've aligned yourself so that her face is in an open pane of glass and not behind a mutton bar. Finally, the idea behind a shot like this is to create the sense of voyerism. That is lost if she is clearly posed and looking directly at the camera.

#2. Technically not a bad shot, but it would've been better had she not been standing behind something black. It looks like her white dress is just a little blown out near the bottom but not too bad. Unfortunately, her hair disappears into the darkness behind her. You couldn't have done better for her hair by bumping up exposure without losing more of the dress. Better to make the background more neutral. Also, her neck kinda weirds me out. One thing if this is just the way she smiles, but it appears as though she may be straining unnaturally. It also wouldve been better if she were holding her flowers up a little more.

#3. Nice enough, though I still would've traded the black window that frames them poorly for that handsome character-rich stone wall. This image is clearly not straight and the white blow-out is much more severe.

#4 is very nice.

All intended with a cordial spirit.

1. doesnt work for me, cant see enough of the bride.

2 and 3 - Unless the background means something, e.g. B&G just exiting from church, its generally better to have a less busy background so that they jump out at you, the door frame cutting through their heads is distracting.

4. Nice enough detail shot but I would have probably tried to get a bit closer to the napkin for more detail.

Nice saturation and clarity in the shots.

Thanks for all the critiques and commenst guys!

yea I was lacking in places to shoot the portraits, as the rest of the character filled walls was full of hanging baskets of flowers and that was kind of the only free space so to speak.

But thank you.
