Shot these three shells horizontally on black perspex for the reflection. I then rotated it in Photoshop and slightly increased the light levels on the reflection side (but it didn't need much). Can you tell which is the reflected side? If so, say so, but don't say why.
I thought they looked like three butterflies - hence the title.
It looks good on black http://bighugelabs.com/onblack.php?id=3785147754&size=large
Comments welcome.

Yes, it's the left side, which is darker.
It's still raining here!

I bet it'd look great horizontal.

And I suppose you want to see a 100% detail section? The good thing with the perspex is you don't get any ghosting, as you do with a mirror, as the reflective surface is actually on the surface of the perspex, not on the back of the mirror glass.

You know what'd be really cool? I dont know if you can take the shot again or not, but toss some sand over the glass - sort of like in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when he throws sand over the invisible bridge.
edit:
As you mentioned originally with the butterfly idea - try putting in a twig or blade of grass to lie under them, reflect and make it look like antennae maybe? I understand you're going for simplicity, but, hey, why not try!

Thank you for the suggestion. You obviously have a weirder imagination than even I do!http://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif
