Yes I have it. It is excellent.
The display is one of the best. It can display the imbedded jpeg in raws. Battery life is acceptable.

Have had one for about 3 weeks. I agree with tommy the display is phenomenal. It's directory structure is a bit limited (8.3 filenames, flat structure) so it isn't that intuitive as a photo album or MP3 player but who cares, the quality is excellent and witht he firmware upgrade you get a histogram too. With a decent pair of headphones sound quality on MP3s is pretty good too.
Overall, would definately recommend it.

The P-2000 has a 8.3 filename system? That is very disappointing. I was planning on getting on next week to use as a electronic portfolio. But there is no way that my file system would be supported. Will it truncated longer files names?

It will use the old dos way to represent the longer names.

I suppose I can live with that.
Refresh me on one other topic. Does the P-2000 support RAW? Or does it have to be flashed to get that feature?

It can display the imbedded jpeg from the raw files. These can't be zoomed though like the real jpegs.

Well that isn't much help. So if I shoot raw I can't zoom in on the image while I am in the field. You know that really isn't shaping up to be such a fantastic tool after all.

Well You could shoot raw+jpeg and use the jpeg to zoom on. Regardless it is a great device and I am happy with it.
The only other alternative I know that can show (some) raws is FlashTrax but I don't know if that can zoom.

Oh. So if I shoot RAW + JPEG then I would be able to zoom in on the JPEG in the field once I download it the card to the P-2000. Well that is different.
You see I have a Photo IPod now. And it is great. But as we all know that device has its limitations. And it really never was meant to be a PSD for field work. So I was hoping to supplement my IPod with the P-2000 for the times that I was out in the field shooting paying jobs. That way I can download and zoom and IMMEDIATELY see if any part of the image is soft that ought to be clear and what not. Plus I thought that the combination of zoom and large/higher resolution screen it would make for a better device to show to clients than the IPod.
I was going to sell the IPod, but have decided that do to the P-2000's size that I would keep it and continue to use it on a more regular basis for everyday MP3 and impulse buying uses. Where as the P-2000 would strictly be a tool that went into the field when I was shooting or meeting with clients.

Even if You can't zoom on the raws with the Epson the display is MUCH better than any display on any camera. You should see it for Yourself, see if You can find a photodealer that has it and try it.

i have both the p2000 and the photo ipod. the photo ipod is great for mp3's and for keeping smaller images to show off or put slide shows on telley.
the p2000 is in another class. the screen is beyond description. yes you can display raw, but as has been said, shoot +jpg if you need to zoom in. it also plays mpg4 movies (divx, xvid, microsoft, etc.) which is great. it offloads from both cf and sd cards relaitvely quickly. i've had mine since late last year and it's indespensable in the field.

I like it, but I believe Epson is not really still catering to the "very avid" or professional photographer, with it missing the ZOOM feature in RAW. Yes you can shoot in JPEG+RAW, but frankly you need to be shooting with at least 4GB cards and up not to make switching of cards a further patch to such a great product. It would be really nice if Epson showed some leadership here against the other similar products in the marketplace.

other than a laptop, then what would you recommend? personally, i think the p2000 is very well suited for field use. by the way, it also does a histogram and has a useful info display.
