As a Texan in NYC, I'll be making a pilgrimage to my Mecca tomorrow. Oh boardmembers, give me the strength to resist spending my children's college fund at B&H.

:)

BTW, to make this on topic I have a gripe. I'm going to be buying my third eyepiece for this stupid 20D. Has anyone used Lok-tite or something similar to keep it from sliding off? I'm using the eyepiece extender, and when I put it in the case it often catches and pops off. I lost another one Tuesday night at the Ben Folds concert in NYC. Drives me nuts.

Have fun, Today it was not too packed but make sure you get to see all that you want before they close at 2:00pm on Friday. The last 1 - 2 hours or so are usually very busy.

Be early on Friday. Remember that B&H is closed on Saturday so get all your shopping in.tomorrow. Next chance would be Sunday.

I'm in that place at least 5 times a month or more. It is like a mecca but man it can be frustrating too. I still love it! In fact, I was there 2 days ago buys stuff for my new 20D.

The college fund will be gone. Best say sorry to the kids. Maybe they will understand.

Beware of Lock-Tite and certain plastics. I had it turn plastic to powder on my bike. Stuff just crumbled.
Have fun at the 'Big Boys Toy Store'

Thanks guys... glad I asked, as I didn't know they closed at 2... and about the busy last few hours. I'll make it my first destination today.

The eyepiece extender is notorious for falling off---or more to the point, allowing the eypiece to fall off.

I haven't heard of a good fix for it except just don't use it. I had two of them and gave them both away. I'd rather have the nose prints on the LCD screen.

You might try silicone (the stuff you use to seal your bathroom) to glue the eyepiece extender to the camera. Holds, but can be removed again, if need be.

Still, better inquire about potential bad effects on the plastic of the camera.

I bought a can of the acid free rubber cement from the scraping booking store, it seems to have just enough grip to keeping it from popping off but is still removable if need be. That was sometime last summer and I haven't noticed an ill effects.

Well I made it out and bought ANOTHER eyecup for the camera. This time I'm just going to superglue it to the eyepiece extender. I see no reason that I'd ever need to take it off, and I'm not glueing the extender to the body, so no harm done.

I do think that B&H should change their logo to:

"Everybody is nobody at B&H!"

Talk about a machine! That store is herd 'em in and herd 'em out. No time for chit chat :) I guess that's life in the big city.

No time for chit-chat? I must disagree, sir. I've always been made to feel as if I'm the only customer in the store when dealing with the salesman behind the camera counter. Out in the store is slightly different. They are always helpful and willing to spend as much time as you need, letting you try different lenses on your camera, or theirs, snapping away on a card you can place in it, etc. In fact, one salesman likes to talk so much, he once sold me the wrong lens and I had to go back to return it. I really "hated" having to make another trip there.

I will be making the pigrimage to the HOLY TEMPLE next week in NYC. Are there any medications anyone knows of that helps you reduce the risk of overspending? My father is coming with me.... maybe his credit line is better than mine.... maybe I can do the old "card switch" trick when we get to the counter.....oh well.... wish me luck.

When I get home, there is a good chance that my wife will leave if the bill is over $1500.... any female photogs out there seeking a financially irresponsible shutterbug? Have a steady job, but like my photo toys. All offers accepted! :-) Kidding... actually wife is very tolerant.... to a point thus far.... but our marriage has not experienced the B&H phenomenon yet. I hear some very bad tales of people going in and coming out with a refinance on their house to fund the expedition. Is this true?????????

I was saved on my last visit, being from the UK i was able to convert it to £'s so it looked a L of a lot better on the credit card bill :)

RE. locktite and eye peice..
I use hot melt glue for such applications. Get the garden variety clear craft supply sticks.. availble at office supply stires.. none of the really good stuff. This is just a plastic goo.. not "glue" at all.. and I use it in little dabs to hold all sorts of things in place. And when it's time to get rid of it,. it peals right off. I'd definitely experiment with the sticks you get on somethiong other than your camera to make sure you didn't accidently get sticks with real "glue like" properties. ;)

I've been there once, and I got messed up on the parking. I ended up in the wrong lot---the one that does not validate tickets. I spent about $1200 in the store, and another $24 redeeming my vehicle. Next time, I'll take the bus.
