Second time I have shot Liza. First time she seemed old and tired. This time she seemed right on the money, vibrant, relaxed and in fine tune. The audience was a bit long in the tooth and she related to them supremely well! :-)
#1 Obligatory collage:

#2 I think this one really reflected her attitude for this concert:

#3 She seemed genuinely pleased to be back again:

#4 My favorite from the set:

#5 That's a gun! She did a number that included firing this handgun several times. I didn't get the gist as I was busy trying to capture the firing, but it sure woke up the audience ... not that they were napping!

#6 This one just worked out well for me:

#4 is fantastic bombastic :) And i specially like the last one. I think #4 could be on the cover or at least inside of the CD. Great work, mr. Dwight.

Well, I'd do a bit of retouching on #4 before I'd use it but yes, I really it, too ... there are four very, very similar in a series and I think this is best. I'll let you know if they contact me! :-)

Thanks, John! Sometimes shooting a talent for the second time is a great improvement. I was ready for her! :-)

1 through 5 look a bit "cool" to me... Did you try adjusting the WB? It could be the harsh blues.... but it still looks a little cool to me.
Why do people paint their eyebrows? It really stands out in 1,3,5.

AWB and I very rarely adjust white balance. They reflect the decisions of the LD ... these aren't studio portraits. :-)
Your second question would likely require several treatises to explore and I expect there are millions of other men who would like to know, too.

You do no post WB? I fight with nearly every photo to try to get it as close as I can.... Needless to say in very dimlit venues (with harsh reds and blues of course) it is a losing battle and often end up B/W.

Nope, just AWB. I'm not sure what "as close" even means when talking about stage lighting! With reasonable parameters I think it should look like what the LD intended. If it is beyond what the camera can capture well, then I delete it, usually... there are always exceptions, of course. I shoot RAW, so what I really do is set "as shot", but it is the same thing.

It's that 300mm f/2.8L IS ... best lens I own ... makes the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS look like they were shot through fog! :-)

I am in awe of the 300L.
Liza's got a gun! Hilarious. That would make a great Inquirer front page.

Yep, that 300 is amazing ... handheld.
