sd400 mic not working

hey i just got the sd400 for my birthday today from www.buydig.com. everythign works great but i noticed when i shoot vids the sound wasnt working. i thought i might have been covering the mic opening, but still no sound. i even tried doing sound memos and that didnt work. when i raise the volume for playback all i hear is like white noise, kinda like when you raise the volume on your speakers without any music playing.

so should i send this cam back or is there somethign im forgetting?

If you've set the Playback Volume to high, sounds like you did everything right. Do you get the camera's operating noises right? What do you get when you play back the movies on your computer or TV?

I also ordered my g/f's SD400 from Buydig.com. I am having the same mic issue. I called Canon and the rep told me to first contact buydig and then to send the camera to them and they would fix it if buydig failed. After looking over buydig's policy, it looks like I'm going to send it back to Canon and avoid the hassle of dealing with buydig. This is frustrating. She's not even had the camera for 2 weeks and we're sending it to be repaired. Otherwise, I'm incredibly happy w/ the camera.
