Looks like I'm going to have to move my domain to a new web hosting company AGAIN. Yahoo websites customer support is USELESS. MySQL has been down for 3 days. I there a way to run the setup.php using my existing EE database backup. I've had trouble getting Pekka's backup routine to work with the last two web hosts I've tried. If that's not possible, could someone give me basic directions for dropping a database using phpmyadmin.......THANKS!!!!!!!!

Hi Steve,

I'd be interested to know what error message that was. If it is an EE Backup bug then it has to be fixed, but for that I'd need the error message. Also, If you still have that backup file would it be possible that you'd mail it to me for testing this error (gallery content privacy honored fully of course as usual).

Also, it would be very helpful to see the text you get from EE's "utilities/server into".

Pekka

Hi Pekka,

Sorry to be so late in responding. In one case the restore operation hung for a long time and then finally displayed a 'page not found' error. I'm afraid I don't remember the exact error on the first failure. I'm guessing these failures had to do with permission levels on the mysql server as in all cases I could 'backup' the original EE database that was dropped in by the setup.php routine. The good news is after struggling with two web hosting companies, Verio.com for punitive bandwidth charges and Yahoo Websites for being clueless with their non-functional mysql server, I finally found a good hosting company in http://www.networkeleven.com. With this company everything worked flawlessly, including the restore feature of your backup routine.
