View Full Version : Rehearsal, Dinner, and Wedding!

I was asked to casually shoot at my fiance's brother's rehearsal and dinner. They had a paid pro to actually cover the wedding, but wanted to get some shots of the action the pro wouldn't cover. The family loves the shots, and I like most of them!

C+C welcome! I'm slowly working my way into shooting weddings...I have one full wedding under my belt, plus a few weddings where I've done things like this, and will be looking to book a few coming up.

The second to last shot is just a random from the reception to show how nice a Vivitar 285HV off the ceiling with an index card for bounce works.

Last shot is my beautiful fiance and her mother. Don't they look great?

Thanks very much! Everybody loves those two, of course. Window light and a little antiquing, and there you have it. :)

Thanks all...The bride and family are all very happy with them as well, and that's the important part!

#4, and #6 are great ... some of the others could have been much stronger images if they were taken in vertical/portrait.

I like them all, but have to go with the majority....I especially like #4 and #6.

You've got some really nice shots, especially #4 and #6. The last shot of your fiance and her mother bother me because the mom's eye's look like black holes. Adding a bit of fill from your strobe would have greatly improved this shot by adding some much needed sparkle to the eyes and soften the shadows. Something to think about when you start shooting weddings for pay.

Thanks for the advice. In my defense, I volunteered to cover the video of the ceremony (hence, the balcony shots, haha) and didn't have much time to shoot when the wedding party was outside for portraits. My fiance was probably getting annoyed because I kept telling her, "I can't believe their paid pro isn't using flash out here!"

Honestly though, she didn't pull out a single strobe until the reception...

Well done, Jacob! 4 and 6 would definitely go into an album.
