Was out for wildlife photos last evening. As the wind was blowing from the west I had to walk towards the sun and then I encountered the attached deer.
I think it is difficult to cope with backlight situations and dark foreground.
Hope you like the attached photos

I like them, loebas. Thanks for sharing.
If you like, a little magic wand work could pull the color out, especially the one on the bottom.

I like the effect that you have in these. It really works for me. Nice job.

I like the second one.
Since the deer is backlit and most of its details are obscured, you might want to try going all the way in photoshop and make the deer a silhouette. Don't make it too dark, leave a couple details. As it is right now, the exposure of the deer looks like almost an accident. It's not dark it's not light. If you darkened it a bit I think you would turn this into a dreamy scene. The great looking backlit leaves could carry the image.
BTW, I am reading a book about light in nature right now. I am in the chapter about shadows. The book says that shadows on a sunny day will appear blue. I think that's why your deer looks a bit blue. Then again, it could be my monitor.

Thank you all for the remarks. The deer 2 photo is straight from the camera.
As I am no PS pro I tried to darken the deer in PS. I just moved the pointers in the histogram.
Hope this is the way you ment that it should be.
By the way what book are you reading ?
