I am sure this has been asked before but I can't seem to locate it. How to you enter your name on a 20D and have it show up in the EXIF?

Thanks,

Brian

The Canon software that came with your Camera. Canon EOS Viewer. I believe it's Camera Settings from the menu.

Click on Tools > Camera Settings menu selection in EVU.

Thanks guys. I have never used the software since I use a cardreader and RAWShooter and PS for processing. Nows the time to learn.

I've done this, and it still never seems to show up in the exif data.

I also have another n00bish question...after pp and resize for web, the image loses all exif data..in cs or cs2....any suggestions?

I just did it. I don't see my name in the JPG but I can see the "owner" attribute when looking at the raw files.

Resize for web, like a number of other applications/tools, strips out the EXIF info. Straight saves of edited files in some applications will at least prompt you on saving original EXIF.

Not all exif readers read all the data -- some of it is standard exif, and others are not standard, such as camera name. That will show up in the Canon applications but it might not show up in all photo processing programs that show exif.

Does anyone know if this can be set on the Rebel XT (350)? I can't find it in the software.

Thanks for any help.

It's in the 300D and 20D, so it should be in the 350D.

GMosher - an easier explaination is "save for web" strips exif data, "save as" retains it.

Dicky109 -You do it with Zoombrowser. Install the driver, connect the camera to PC, go to ZB/Acquire and Camera Settings/Set to Camera.

GMosher- By using Exifer you can extract Exif from one jpg and insert it into another. Google for it.

Eos Viewer Utility, which comes with the DRXT/350D, is what you'd use.

Here's another idea I picked up from this forum. Enter your phone number as well as your name in case the camera is lost or stolen.

Thanks for the replies on the XT. I had looked in Zoombrowser, however didn't follow the cryptic titles properly, and I couldn't find camera name or any permutation of it in the index. Also, that is a great idea about phone number!

Eos Viewer Utility wasn't included in my software

My mistake - I thought Canon'd shifted all the DSLRs over to EVU.

Finally got my name and phone number entered in the camera. Unless I am doing something wrong it looks like RawShooter purges a lot of information including the Authur and serial number. If I process the RAW images with PS, everything shows up in my TIF file. Maybe an upgrade is needed to RS?

If so, it's not your RawShooter that needs upgrading. Ver. 1.1.2, Bld. 14 is the latest on their web site, and it doesn't transfer that either.

Just as I was getting to like RS! I guess it is no big deal for just shooting personal shots. I just entered a online contest(that I have no chance of winning) and the rules said if you win they have to verify you shot it. I would guess they would look at the EXIF and have you verify the serial number or something similar.

Have you looked at pictures in DPP or EVU after processing them with RawShooter? The data may still be in the picture, just not showing up because it's not part of the standard exif definition. I understand it's a proprietary extension, so it may still be present in the raw data of the picture, but just not appearing in applications which aren't programmed to display it.

I processed the RAW with RS and saved them as TIF. I then used the File Browser in PS to view the EXIF and these fields were blank. I haven't tried DPP or EVU but I figure if PS can't see it nothing can. I will try DPP or EVU to view the next set of RS processed files.

Well, EVU won't even display the RS-converted JPGs, but the JPGs I extracted from my D60 using DPP 1.6.1 don't show extended EXIF either - in fact they show practically none. Irfanview shows full EXIF for native Canon JPGs, but not for the converted ones. DPP shows the same restricted EXIF for both DPP-converted and RS-converted D60 CRW files. So I guess if we want to save full EXIF, we need to look for another approach.
