Hello,
I've searched the camera bag sticky as well as searched the site for the perfect medium sized travel backpack. I would like a bag to carry my 40d, 24-105, Toki 11-16, 430ex flash and a tripod (20 inches folded), and other misc items like cables, memory cards etc.
I've found plenty of bags but few offer a tripod holder. I first considered the tarmac expedition 4 or 5 then I saw the lowepro flipside 200 that looks to fit my criteria's better, but just wanted other's opinions before I buy then later regret because something better was out there. :D
Any suggestions will be appreciated. Oh and I'd like to stay under $150 if possible
Thanks in advance

My favorite is more than you want to spend, but has some features that for me are worth the money. The ThinkTank Rotation 360. www.rotation360.com. It allows access to the pack without taking it off.
The other medium packs are all about the same in my mind. The Tamrac Expedition 5X is what I have, but I've not used it since I got the Rotation.

It all depends on what you're intended use is. Are you looking to carry any additional items (light clothing, food/snacks, water bottle, etc) or is it for camera gear only? In other words, do you need a second compartment for other essential items?

I have the Flipside 300 and love it. It houses my XTi, 85mm, 28-135mm, 70-300mm, 430 EX flash, lens hoods, filters, battery/chargers...and I could fit more. Plus, it has a tripod/monopod holder. Double Plus, it is in your price range.
Edit: I forgot, it has an external water bottle holder, and side zipper pocket where I keep my LensPen, microfiber cloths, and even extra memory cards.

If you need the second compartment, take a look at the Lowepro Rover AW II...room for your gear, external tripod carrier, and a second compartment for any extras that you may need.

I'll throw in the Kata DR-467 for consideration as well. I've used it and love it. I got caught in a downpour for 30 minutes, (and forgot about the waterproof cover,) but everything inside was dry. Reviews on amazon and youtube on the model.

It's kind of funny you mentioned KATA. I came across their website and have been eye balling the KATA 3N1-20 sling. Looks like a nice bag with quick access and also has optional tripod attachment. It's also reasonably priced.
I'll also check out the Kata DR-467 now. Thanks
