I shot Saturday's lineup featuring Gogol Bordello (my favorite), Arctic Monkeys, Tool, and others. What a fun day, albeit a muddy one. I heard they're calling it All Points Wet. Anyway, I shot something like twelve bands/comedy acts, 2200 photos, and didn't eat all day, which was brutal. Totally worth it though.

Anyone who has shot a festival knows its quite hard to make your photos stand out from the 50 other photographers with the same gear as you standing in almost the same spot as you, so I decided on a distinct PP look for some of the key shots of each band to help my stuff pop from the crowd.

Nice set.
I like #2 and 4.
#1 desperately needs a crop to get rid of the two bits of guitar / violin on the left.

I have been getting that a lot though. Why is that such a bother? Have you seen what else is floating around the fourms? And you choose to mention this. Ok.

I find them distracting. The image would be cleaner (better) without them IMO.

The head stocks are telling me there are more people on stage, but I'd already gathered that ;)

On a side note, I don't clone in PA "live" images. I might doge / burn / crop, but I don't clone. Personal choice really ;)

Calm down son, you're just getting some c&c which i personally agree with to be honest.

I think you did a good job at using 'different' pp techniques which will set you apart from the other photographers like you've said.
I think the colors in the 4th picture are absolutely amazing!

Damnit emotionless innanetz.. By no means am I upset. It just perplexes me to hear "clone that its distracting" when 90% of the work I see on this site needs major cloning to say the least.

I also find it funny that this is one of my most successful threads, and it took me "getting pissed off" for that to happen. I'd like to think it's my work not being interesting or good enough, but spending as much time here as I do, I see thats simply not the case.

The first 4 are all pretty good. I would maybe consider cropping out the headstocks like they said, but they don't particularly bother me. Either way, it's still a good shot.

Also, usually when people don't comment on the junk floating around the forums it's because they fear there's no hope for the photographer or that it's so bad it would hurt their feelings big time. I usually only comment on photos (granted, I don't comment much on this site) when I think there's potential for great shots.

Do your best! They are the best band I've shot or seen, such an amazing performance, they truly play for their crowds.

I'll take any feedback, good or bad, but only if the person has the credentials/work to back up what they say. Too often I see work here that is indicative only of amateurism, yet it gets a dozen replies, most of which sound something like "Oh that is so good!" when it's a dead-center composed photo of a duck on a lake in mid day lighting.

I can agree with that...

I too find myself often not giving "in depth enough" C&C, because I simply don't have the time. I spend too much of it here already ;)

I rather get decent critique then "nice image", even if it's only a small comment: A comment might help me improve, admiration won't. I know roughly how good I am, don't need confirmation of that. I also know quite a few of my shots could be improved, and am curious whether others feel the same.

Then again, I mostly try to say something positive as well as pointing out something that needs improvement. ("Your focus and metering sucks, but your timing is nice" :lol:)

Nice series. I don't really like the expression and posture on #3 though, and #1 could use some cropping. I think the two guitars are really distracting and you've got space enough to crop those off.
