Bizarre! (Unlike the drivers, these guys can't help it if they're turkeys!)
There are three turkeys that come down to and across a road near our house. In over 25 years I had never seen them around at all.

And yes, they do fly. I was sitting in a parked car one sunny morning and suddenly everything was dark. It was a turkey cruising over the car - the wingspan was huge.

Nice shot. I have been trying to get a picture of our new flock of turkeys since the snow melted, but if I have my camera I don't see them and vice versa.

I've only seen wild turkeys a few times on hikes. They're really shy around here.

Thanks all, It seems the only time there shy around here is hunting season.  The rest of the time there as bold as anything, yes Marie they are good eating. more dark meat then the domestic ones have and they are on average a little smaller. A 20 pound turkey in the wild is considered very large. They are one of the hardest game birds to hunt, because the are very skittesh. the slightest noise or movement will send them running an flying. The reason I got the shot is that my camera is on the seat ready to go.
Here is anothe I took when he came along side the car. Little off on the focus but than again I was one, he the other and cars all around
