FYI, parking in the structure from Thursday to Sunday is $3 :confused: , but definitely still cheaper than at the Santa Monica Pier AND less of a hassle from waiting for pedestrians to cross the street.

I'm down. I need tutoring on 550ex. But I was just thinkin', what if SM has the same kind of crazy laws that Newport Bch has, where you can't use dslr's on the beach. They think you're pros and want you to have a freakin' permit! And they enforce it.

If these meets become habitual, I would like to schedule one or more for early morning or late afternoon for the low sun angle. Of course at the beach you're certainly not guaranteed of sun at those hours:)

I have two very flimsy light stand but will leave them in the car unless we really need them. I do have a light tripod that can be use to gang up 2 or 3 speedlight together in a lastolite softbox... depending on the light outside. Or we can just have someone hold the speedlight as is... portability power! If you guys are still hanging about around 5pm, I just might be able to make it to this meet.

Hahahaha I was on the west side of the pier between the pier and the first life guard tower. then I went under the pier and got a ridiculous HDR shot. Then popped out on the side and called it a day. Got some great shots today shot over 200. Uploading images before I go to bed.

Thanks for the MTV cribs comment. I still try to keep it up after having a little one. It isn't an easy task. I messed around with HDR one night at 10pm so photomatix was free trial version to use as of the time :) and have not play with HDR again ever since.

well, the sun goes down at like 6pm now soif we will be meeting up I suggest we do it earlier during the day. We can totally hang out and everything, but shooting wise I think we won't have much time, sinc ewe will meet only after dark. I have only one light sourse currently and there's not too much you can do with that at night :)
