Someone on this wonderful board recommended wandering around the south bank as a good way to find interesting photographic subjects, so I decided to try doing just that on my lunchbreak today. I took only my 85mm f/1.8 and 20d, which present some composition problems. Next time I will take something wider that zooms. I don't think any of these are amazing shots, but I share them to encourage others to head out and explore things to shoot. Here are a few of the things I found...

Some street entertainers were posing as statues

There is some kind of Dali exhibit there (I didn't have time to go look at it). There were a few sculptures out on the river bank, such as the famous Dali clock. My girlfriend likes this shot...

But I prefer this one...

And finally another Dali statue, which was very hard to frame due to the limitations of only have one prime lens with me, so had to be brutally cropped...

Thanks for the comments. I guess the balance of opinion is in favour of the Big Ben clock then. I need to listen to my girlfriend more :D

The one with Big Ben is great with the 2 clocks! Its a shame about the lights going across the shot, and the sky is plain, maybe go back on a day with a great sky!?!

remember, the gf is always right =]. But seriously I agree with her, the two clocks version is really nice (I agree with the sky comment from sixshot though)

I've always wanted to take shots going up the escalatrs for Jubilee line. Looks futuristic.

Nice shots and keep going around London taking pics. I'm dying to go back there now that I have my camera and lenses.

Unfortunately, I'm constrained by the fact I do these London shots during my lunchbreak, which means the sun is high in the sky. The best I can hope for is a cloudier day I think.

At the moment I only lug my 20D in on Fridays, which is a "dress-down" day at my work, so I enjoy looking like a regular tourist. I'll definitely be going back to this spot many times I think.

Thank you again for your comments. I'll be sure to post more photos if I get any other half decent shots of London :D

LOL. I think I'm just going to try to go more often, but with a point-and-shoot instead.
