The background is a little busy in this shot and the "model" is not some cool rocker or hot babe, so cropping it was a problem.
Which one looks better?

Why not just blur the backround a little bit. that may help. I like the first because I feel like I'm sitting in the cheap seats LOL just kidding.

It depends on what you want to show.
#1 shows me a performer on stage running the show himself. #2 looks like just another guitar player. Both are nice shots, but they give off different feelings.

I like #1 best. Both great shots but #1 is more interesting.

There is just something about #1 that I am drawn to more. Both shots are nice but I feel that #1 says more about the scene. I personally do not find it to busy.

Thanks for all the comments folks! My wife and I are split on this as well, she like one, I like the other.
Guess it all comes down to preference. I think I'll just keep both and show them together :D
