They have been Married for 25 years and Their Daughter works with my wife and she wants me to shoot them for an Annaversary gift to them. My price is no charge as it is for a friend and I don't normally shoot people.

I need Ideas on posing the couple. and examples.

I am going to take them to a local park, Water Front and their Boat seeing they like boating, I just want to capture them in places they like being and are comfortable.

I know that I will be shooting them between 7-8 pm at night for nice evening lighting etc... but just need examples and help..

thank you very much in advance for all your help.

Chris

I dont know if I would worry about posing them to much, it might be better if you just told them to have fun and act like lovers, hold hands, kissing stuff like that. When you see a nice shot, Just take it.

Thanks reason I ask is their Daughter said they are not affectionite.. we are talking about a couple in their late 50's and not a couple of teenagers that can't keep their hands off each other :) .... I am going to try and get them to be "Normal" But they are looking for posing... They are not modern they are traditional and this has been expressed to me 3 times already...

Thanks I am going to do my best to try and caputure them just hanging out.. Hence why I want them to do it on their boat as well... But would still like some posing ideas/samples.. I am looking at Engagement sessions and I just can't pictures this couple doing this as an engagement type of session that I would like to do.

Did the couple or the daughter say they were looking for posing? And who told you three times?

The Daughter and what does it matter. I don't want a disagreement I just want ideas....

I can work with the modern side if I have to. but I am looking for ideas. hey if I can get a couple of mid 50 year olds to walk on the beach hold hands and jump in the air I will try.. but I just need ideas. I am going going to argue with the daughter.

Maybe her impression is wrong of her parents but still... she would know them better then me...

Good couple shots are not about being affectionate as much as being intimate and tender. They may sound like the same thing, but they're not. I may shoot a couple of 20 year olds and have the young man dip his girl and kiss her on the neck. For an older couple, walking holding hands, or smiling/knowing glances, that type of thing.

if they are on the boat, maybe a shot of them working together as they dock it. maybe a shot with you on the front of the boat( depending on boat layout) with the three of them behind all looking forward together. Also with the boat turning and get some of the wake.

Hope to see some sweet shots. good luck
