I was at the track today and found this guy (A.J. Foyt) trying to get out of the rain.

How did your turn shots turn out Tom? It was nice to meet you. Now you know where to find me anytime you come down to the track. And don't forget, you got to meet Kong too LOL what a bonus, Kong and AJ all in the same day. Man how could you stand the ride home LOL.

My shots from the turn are ok. Its tough getting good clear images through the fence and without getting fence poles somewhere in the shot where you dont want them. All in all I did get some "keepers" though. I havent had much time to go through them all yet. I do wish I was in a position to get Sam Hornish's "flying car". That would have been a money shot for sure!. I'm glad that I got to meet you (and Kong). Maybe next time you guys need some help shooting an Indy team I'll be available to help you out. I would love to get a hat and jacket like that!

I just saw how bad these look on here after I resized them. ...I've got to get better at that!

It looks to me like you just need to get on the other side of that fence, which isn't an easy thing to do.
By the way, guys, in case you didn't notice, I'm a fellow Hoosier (Schererville in NW IN.). I'm looking forward to getting down to both of your hometowns to do some golfing soon. I like to go to Coyote Crossing in Lafeyette (sp.?) and Bear Slide and The Fort near Indy.
I'm gonna be looking for some nice shots here in a couple of weeks, Indy. Getting ready to watch the NASCAR race right now.

Hi All, That name rings some bells, back a few years I use prepare and paint all the MARCH cars about 1985 continuing on with Williams F1 from the Windfield and Veltins sponsored cars to the current BMW . I have since left that demanding wizzy world , But it's nice to know my design and paintwork is still out there.
Sorry I know it's not photographic .

Great to see a photo of the living legend.. simply one of the ultimate names in American autoracing history!
I'd put AJ with Richard Petty and Don Garlits as the most enduring characters in the feild.

I'd put AJ with Richard Petty and Don Garlits as the most enduring characters in the feild. Mario should fit in there somewhere! ;-)

I don't remember what year it was, but it had to be in the late 70s, early 80s at the Indy 500. A.J. came into the pits, and after about a minute or two of the mechanics futzing around with the car, and some of the typical A.J. Foyt arm waiving, he gets out of the car, pulls the wrench out of the mechanic's hand and goes to work on the car himself. By working on the car I mean beating on the transmission as if the wrench was a hammer.
Most of my memories of A.J. Foyt do not involve smiles, so this picture is an exceptional capture. Nice to see he's smiling these days.

Tom, It was nice to meet you also, I'm sorry I was on the run and did'nt have lots of talk time (got to keep the speedway happy). Your shots look great, Keep up the good work and give us a yell next time you're down....

Nice shots. I'd love to be down there all month for a job. Even if it was tough work ;) I normally just settle for the whole GP weekend, though. I definitely need to make it down there for the 500, though. I havn't managed to do that yet!
And as a side note: is it just me, or are those Dallaras kind of ugly? They need more Panoz/G-Forces out there :D
