I just snapped this about 10 minutes ago. This is a yearling moose....across the road from my house. I was unloading the car after a run to Costco (yeah...we got Costco in Alaska) and there it was.....as they usually are. Moose in Alaska are like pidgeons in NYC...well, not exactly, but you get my drift. Really makes me wish I had a longer telephoto. Oh well, in time.....

Yeah, they do. They are very habituated...at least in Anchorage. Urban moose. Doesn't make them any less wild/dangerous though. They are particularly dangerous during calving season...which is in just a couple weeks and during the Rut. You just give them their space and there are no issues. I have about 4 "resident" moose in my particular neighborhood. Moose cover a territory of about 5 square miles or so. The bulls tend to wander and cover greater areas. Just one of the many great aspects of life in Alaska. If you can believe it...I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY!

Cool shot. Here you have them wandering around town and I've yet to see one outside a zoo.
