Hey Atlanta POTN group. :)

I've been planning a trip to Atlanta, for some time, and will make the final arrangements over the course of the month or so. It will be for Columbus Day weekend, and the primary reason for this trip is working with models (well, and just for a change in scenery).

I've spoken to a couple of people about it (models and photogs alike), and figured I'd start a thread to keep track of things. I'm guessing some will be able to make it, some won't, but, the more the merrier.

I don't know who does and does not do TF shoots for models, so, if you are going to be joining in please let me know which you'd prefer. I'm sure many would prefer a 'paid' scenario, but, finding models to pay in an area I don't know might be a bit of a stretch for me. Maybe others in the area can help me with this one...I'm sure that you have more resources than I.

Currently, I am trying to figure out which day it will be because I'm not sure if my wife is coming with me, or not. She's going to be in school teaching again, so, I don't know if she has the time off and whatnot yet.

So, here's a few details, to start off with. Add some as necessary since there's still plenty of time to iron out details.

Tentative Date(s): October 10, 11, and/or 12th 2009.

Tentative Locations: While I'm not familiar with Atlanta, or it's surrounding areas, maybe someone can tell me of a nice place with some nice scenery, and not a lot of crowds. Shooting models where there are lots of people could become rather sketchy...and I'm sure we'd all like to keep the noise, to a minimum. If someone has a studio we can use, I'd say that'd be cool, too. Meanwhile, I'll scout some areas over the net, and fill them in...and ya'll can let me know if it's nice or not.

Shooting time preference?: Morning, Evening, midday (only if we have a studio around or some 'cool' places to shoot since it's rather hot out midday, even in October). All day is cool by me, so, no worries there.

Shooting for TF or paid?: Just let me know. Also, if you have some MM models that you'd like to work with leave their numbers here....or contact them and let me know if it's a yeah, or neigh. I will contact some of the ones that I know as well, and provide that info. here.

Any other questions/comments/concerns/etc. feel free to respond here, and we'll figure this all out together. Oh, and a central meeting location would be 'really' beneficial, once we decide on a spot.

Looking forward to meeting some of you. ;)

Later,
Manish.

I would just like to provide an update. I currently have two models willing to participate. I am looking for a total of 5 photogs, and 5 models, to keep the ratio pretty even.

If you would like to participate, please sign up as soon as possible. I will limit entries until Sept 15th, so that I have about 2-3 weeks to plan and coordinate with everyone else. This is a learning event, so, most likely there will be no nudity involved. Fashion, Glamor (glamour), Bikini, Etc. should be good to go. I will ask all models to bring attire accordingly.

Model releases, TF agreements, please just PM me if you are going to join...so I can keep track of what you will provide a model, for her time. Some like to know up front, and I'm all for that.

Anything else, just ask.

So far, I have been in touch with one photog from the site, and this was a suggested location. 4 more to go.

Other locations welcome, too. ;)

3 spots left, for now. :)

I'm not opposed to more photog's, but, I also have to find the models to make it even...unless some want to just learn and watch? Just let me know. ;)

I've received a couple of requests from 'junior' members to see if they can tag along, just to gain some experience. I'm not opposed to it, but, at this time, I'd prefer some photog's with an intermediate knowledge of shooting. Once those types of photog's are signed up, we can talk about others tagging along.

So, just letting you know. ;)

I am just adding names of people that contacted me, with regards to this, so I can keep track of this cause my PM box is never emptied.

- F5racing (a possible maybe, due to reasons mentioned) ;)

- imsilly2 -- would like to tag along, with a more experienced photographer.
- 57bronco -- would like to tag along, with a more experienced photographer.

So, help us out some of you more experienced Atlanta shooters. I'm no pro either, but, it'll be fun. ;)

Also, if you cannot/don't want to attend but know of some nice locations in the area please add them here. I/we would appreciate it. :)

As stated, I'm interested in joining, but I also totally understand, and respect, the vibe you're going for.

It'll be a slight drag if you find yourself "teaching" too much.

As long as there's enough teachers, students can pair up. I've done it before, more than willing to help again. ;)

Mind you, I'm still a student myself...so, maybe someone can teach me something, too. :)

It's about the learning experience, for me. How about you?

C'mon Atlanta...post up! :)

Anyone know of any waterfalls, in the area, that might be not too busy? Just curious. :)

Closest One I can think of is Cochran Mill Park, in Palmetto. It is just outside the south west side of Atlanta. I have only been once, and it was a while ago, so I don't know what the falls conditions are like. A lot will of course depend on if we get any rain between now and then....

Good to know, Brian. I'll look it up... :) I've got three models, so far...so, should be a pretty good scenario, even if no one else joins in. ;)

I am very much interested in joining in here. I'm very much in the early learning stages of shooting models, but remain very active in my shooting. I'd like to semi tag along, but really want to whip out my camera, so let me know where i could fit in without being in the way. I'm not 100% sure what time of environment you want to shoot in, so if you post a few more ideas, I think I could give some input.
thanks

If you'd back up a student, as well, then it's good. I really do prefer that we have even numbers of people willing to help teach and learn.

So far...
2 Teachers - D\/8 and I will be the teachers.

4 Students, with one being a maybe.

So, if we can get two more advanced level shooters, we'd be done. ;)

As for locations...
1) places where there aren't 'tons' of people.
2) places with a nice backdrop? waterfalls, changing leaves, old barn/building, etc.
3) Something that is fairly easy to get to, and within a 30-35 mile radius of Atlanta, for ease of getting there.

Any other ideas...I'm all for them. :)

As far as locations, I can tell you about Gwinnett's biggest kept secret. Gwinnett county is about 30 miles North of Atlanta. There is a park called Tribble Mill Park. There are plenty of trees and greenery here, as well as a huge lake that can be used as a back drop. I'm sure in October it will be full of color with the changing of the seasons.
Click on this link and then scroll down to the bottom of the page, there are some pictures of the park there.

Just bringin' this back, since time seems to be flying. I've got one month, till our trip to Atlanta. Please note, I have had to cut this trip a day short, so, we will be shooting either Saturday the 10th or Sunday the 11th, as I have to be back in Jax early on the 12th.

I've spoken to a model that is willing to shoot nudes at the rate of $100 or so per hour. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Maybe she will come in a little cheaper, I'm not sure. If no one is interested, then, so be it. ;) Please PM me, and I will link you to her MM profile and will discuss with her at that time. ;)

Meanwhile, here's the updated list of shooters and students:

So far...
2 Teachers - D\/8 and I will be the teachers.
1 Possible Teacher -- Harleypugs.

4 Students, with one being a maybe.

So, with this list, I think that's all we really need unless a couple of other 'teachers' would like to join in. I'm not looking for anymore students, unless you want to pay the teachers/models/etc. for their time. ;)

As for locations...I'm still looking for others, but, I've just been a tad busy. So, if you know of remote locations, where there aren't tons of people (aside from what's already been mentioned), please respond here.

Requirements
1) places where there aren't 'tons' of people.
2) places with a nice backdrop? waterfalls, changing leaves, old barn/building, etc.
3) Something that is fairly easy to get to, and within a 30-35 mile radius of Atlanta, for ease of getting there.

Any other ideas...I'm all for them.

Thanks....M.

PS...Blake, I'll be calling you as soon as I have a chance, dude, I haven't forgotten. ;)

The final date for the shoot will be Sunday, October 11th. It will be an all day event, as long as the models show up. I am still researching locations, so, I will be back to everyone with that info.

I will post up more details within the next couple of weeks, so, post here if you have any questions. Should anyone need release forms, or any other information, please just respond here. It's not that big a group, but, it'll be a lot of fun I'm sure. ;)

Later...and have a nice weekend, all.

M.

Here are the final details for next Sunday, October 11th. I'm thinking the earlier, the better, but, I'll give people a chance to sleep in, just a little, though.

Location: http://www.hurricaneshoalspark.org/heritagevillage.htm

Time: Show up by 8 a.m.

Please confirm just by saying yes or no in this thread, or, send me a PM.

Thanks,
Manish.

PS: Seemed to be the best place, which is close, and probably easy to get to. We can spend as much time there, and once models and photo's are exhausted, it's over.

I have a couple of other things I am workin' on, but, those I can't disclose at this time till everything is confirmed within the next two days. If you need release forms, please let me know. Anything else, again, this thread is where to respond. I only have limited space in my PM box, so, don't want PM's to get bounced back.

PPS: I have no idea where I'm staying yet, but, I'm sure my wife and I can find something...somewhere...which is in close proximity to the park/City. Any places 'not' recommended? I'd like to know. :)

pity I missed it, but it was for the better. Was seemingly sick this weekend.
