i work in recreation and have been hoping for a while to get a decent picture of the swimming pool at our centre. A couple weeks ago we had a storm with some pretty good lightning as well as a blistering red sunset against the blue evening sky. I grabbed my camera and ran outside before it was gone and managed to get some decent shots. I got a few lightning strikes as well but the storm had passed my way and the bolts were off in a distance.

I did however capture a great shot of the pool!:D While standing outside i was getting rained on along with my camera and some shots were ruined as i had rain drops on my lense. No matter, gave it a wipe down and moved under a tree... where i became evening supper for mosquitoes O_o. anyway the picture i took of the pool has now made it to the front cover of our fall recreation guide as you can see below. I had originally hoped to take a picture that i might blow up and have hung inside the building and i can still do that but it feels really neat to have my image on the front of something even if its only a community brochure, it my community!

ps - while standing under the tree trying to capture lightning and admiring the gorgeous sunset, i realized just how much fun i was having under that tree all alone (minus the mosquitoes). Thinking back on it makes me realize how lucky i am to be able to appreciate these marvelous scenes and to be able to capture them at the same time.

Hope you like...and thanks for the look.

Thanks! I was pretty satisfied with the exposure. These images don't have any PP except that I cloned out 2nd base from the foreground just to clean it up, oh and I sharpened it. I was messing around the other day and used curves to lighten up the trees and grass and thought it looked good too.

not sure which i like better. the first one seems more realistic since the dark foreground more accurately conveys the real life conditions that night.
