Hi All,
Got a new lens today, Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM, thought I would share a photo with you. So far I am loving my new lens, and I am trying to get the best out of it.
Any CC gladly welcome.
Thanks
Janice
PS
When I convert to JPG from CS3, I lose a lot of quality, how do I remedy this?

Shutter Speed: 1/200 sec
F-Stop: f/4.0
ISO 100
Flash fired
After I open in bridge and adjust it a bit I just save as jpeg.
Yep, still new at the photoshop stuff...
I think what I find odd is that my photos lose so much quality when converting to jpeg.
Thanks

Yup, conversion to jpeg will soften the photo. After conversion, do a "gentle" sharpen before posting. I like the photo with the high key quality. Looks like you ? desaturated the image a little? I like it, but needs to be a tad sharper. Also, when I look in the eyes, the pupil could be blacker and it appears to be the only place that there is significant grain. Maybe did you have to lighten the image some (which tends to add grain to darker areas)?

A picture that large should be much more than 37KB. All that compression (stuffing a large picture into a small file) is destroying detail. When saving as JPEG, an option should be available for adjusting the size of the resulting file. Low compression results in a larger (not dimensions but file size), more detailed photo. High compression results in what you posted. This picture (683 by 1024 pixels) should be at least 150KB file size to look good on a monitor.
