Well, last month I got a bonus from work, so being the sensible, financially responsible kind of person that I know my parents have always told me I should be....I went and blew the lot!
So I am now a proud member of that might distinguished club......namely The 20d Owners Club! Yes, I just went out and bought a brand spanking new 20d along with a Tamron 28-75 lens. Ch-ch-ching! I can hear my bank manager's groans already....! Got it from Jessops (UK), who price-matched....saved quite a wedge!
Still, not to worry....I know that all you fine people on here will actively encourage me to save all my money in the future, and it would never cross your minds to play Satan unto me with incessent talk of crisp, radiant "L" class lenses........hmmm, let me just go check what my credit card limit is again!
So there are going to be a few fairly intensive days/weeks/months/.... of manual reading and playing - and then who knows, there may even be some photos at the end of it!

Awesome! As I'm sure you already konw, this is just the beginning. Pretty soon you'll be dreaming about buying those L's, as you've already made note of!
Make sure you post some pics! Congrats again and welcome.

Congradulations, mine arrive on Monday. I tried my local shop but they could not get close to the price I could get elsewhere, they were nearly £140 more expensive than elsewhere. Would like to have supported them but ended up going with Warehouse Express (and saved another £25 as well). Paid for the battery grip.
Already have the Tamron lens, best value lens I have purchased.
Enjoy it (especailly if we get some sun in thee next few weeks!!!)

Trumper....I tried to get them to price match with a number of internet sites (eBuyer, 7dayshop, etc) but they wouldn't do so. They will not price match against another company if:
1) they are selling imported (eg USA) models of the camera
2) there is no way of contacting them by phone
3) they are not UK based
4) they do not have the item in stock
Some Jessops say that they will only price match with local stores (I had "within 20 miles" quoted to me), but that doesn't seem to be the same at every store, so try what you can.
The Jessops I ended up buying from was in the Trafford Centre in Manchester and the store they price matched against was called FotoSense (www.fotosense.co.uk (http://www.fotosense.co.uk)), who are based in Bolton. The Jessops in store price for the 20D was £999 - Fotosense was £929 so saved £70 there. I also got the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 which Jessops had priced at £350 (!!!!!) and FotoSense was £279. So overall, I saved £140 on their store prices which wasn't too bad.
I know it is possible to buy them cheaper from internet companies, but if something did go wrong with the camera or lens, I didn't want to get sucked into the whole process of having to ship it off for repair and have to be without it for weeks on end. I guess it's up to you whether the money you save by getting it from the internet is worth the risk of having to ship it back if there's a fault. For me, I felt paying the bit extra was worth it for the peace of mind!
Good luck in your hunt...!

Hi slicendice,Thanks for your advice,we have used Park cameras to price match,i must admit i had'nt heard of the 30 mile rule, well not from our branch in Cambridge.
I must admit i am dubious about internet companies[wrongly in alot of cases i know]but i prefer to be able to walk into a shop and talk to someone.
You say about being without the camera for weeks if you have to send it back to an internet shop for repair, the trouble is that that is all Jessops do.They pack the camera up and send it off the same.My video camera is under going repairs from them and will be 6 weeks or so.
Anyway ,thanks for the link and advice, cheers.
