Hello,

I'm going on vacation in a week, and I'm wondering what settings would be suficient to print as much photos as possible without loss of quality.

I have a Canon PowerShot S1 IS 3.2MP, and I'll only be procesing 4 by 6" pictures (from stores).

In the past, I had the size at L (large - 2048 - 1536) and Superfine. Now I have it set on M1 (1600 x 1200) and Fine. Will that be enough?

Thanks for the input. :D

Shoot everything as large as possible and best quality. Spend more money on memory and less time wishing you'd shot something at a higher res/better quality.

3MP is more than enough for 4x6. 2MP will print 4x6 just fine. Just don't "zoom in" if you print from a print kiosk at a store or your image quality will go down.

Well, 1600x1200 resolution will print 4x6's at about 240 dpi. Considering the size of the prints, 240 dpi is sufficient. As long as you don't think you'll come back and really wish you had that "one perfect shot" at a higher resolution or quality, you should be fine.

Thanks for all the input. I'll probably interchange between the two, taking very high res shots of beautiful and memorable landmarks.

Well back to packing.:D

Memory cards are really cheap. Getting an extra one and not having to worry would really be a good idea.
