Hello, I Live on Oakville, near Toronto: I am looking for a good part-time photography course.
I have been taking photos since I was 12 - some 34 years ago. I am an engineer and during the day, I work in IT. I therefore already know about cameras (I hav owned both film and now own digital SLR's) and about producing photos (both by developing and printing film, and by using Photoshop). I do not need to learn about aperture, histograms, spot metering, 18% grey cards, or the rule of thirds.
I would love to turn pro - that has always been a dream - but I am not good enough. I need to learn much more about light. About creating. About art. About portraiture. About photojournalism. I would really love to take a degree in photography if such as thing existed as a part-time endeavour.
Here's the rub. I do not want to do film (I am now entirely digital: I did darkrooms when I was in my teens. Today this is an anachronism), and I do not want a "digital photography course". I want a course that focues on photography, not on how prints are produced. I could not care less about whether I produce pictures from an old Leica or from a Canon 20D: but since I own the latter, I want to use that. The courses I have seen here have 50% darkroom time and require a film camera.
Any suggestions? Maybe I should hire a good pro, with a buddy, for personal training? Maybe I can find a pro who wants an assistant? Any suggestions at all?
Michael
