I have a neighbor who is a bike builder, and he asked me to shoot some pictures of a tank he just painted. It's got a flame finish, and another set of flames in a transparent flake that only shows up in the sunlight. Here's my quick attempt at capturing them, but I can't seem to grab all of the flames at once because of the angles.

I didn't really know how to set up for this shoot, so I just put up a workbench table with a sheet over it for a test run. I shot it with my 50D, 10-24mm Tamron lens with a circular polarizer. I tried turning the polarizer around to bring the rainbow out as much as possible.

I'm open to ANY suggestions about how to grab this effect and shots of this tank better. I don't have any reflectors, but I could probably wrangle something up. Thanks!

Do you have a softbox or a DIY one?

You could set for a long exposure and move the light over it bring up the highlights as it moves.

Yeh only way to get it to show up all over is to take multiple exposers and move the light, since the tank is round it will only show up where there is direct light.
Or use multiple lights?

Have you tried some macro shots with water droplets? I saw a thread not too long ago with a guy that had a chameleon paint job and it looked pretty killer. Not sure what it will do here and it might not be what your looking for but might be worth a try...
