Hey guys,

I'm been thinking of getting a 24-85 and sell away my 28-105.

The reason why I'm thinking of getting the 24-85 is because I'm most likely to get a 70-200 4L soon. And since this baby is using 67mm filters, I thought of getting the 24-85 so as to have a more streamlined system.(in terms of filters sharing). Of course, going wider by 4mm is nice....

However, I'm apprehensive that the 24-85 would not be as sharp as my current 28-105.

Do you think I should do that or should not bother changing?

Any advices from you guys, especially those that had used both?

Thanks heaps!

Get the Tamron 28-75. Takes 67mm filters (not why you should get it though.) Great combo with the 70-200 L (and the 10-22 efs.)

I've only used the 28-105/3.5- so i'm just going by others comments-
I've seen this posted quite alot on forums the last few years and the answers are allways the same-
that the 24-85 ,28-105 are VERY close in overall performance.
In fact they are the same in concept and design as well-both have the ring type USM,metal mounts and reasonable build quality

I had the 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 before I got a 24-85. I bought and sold the 24-85 and still have the 28-105. The range doesn't go wide enough, but the copy I have produces better images.
