Looking for advice on how to improve my swimming photos. I had a bit more free reign this year around the pool as the parents/coaches that run the meets had seen photos from last year. #1 is my favorite that I took all year and was thanks to one of the coaches that pulled me up onto the edge of the pool to shoot.

You would think since I have posted on forums for the last 10 years I would know what to do. No idea why they are not showing up. I even went to IE and cannot see them. Hmm.

Fixed it for ya. Hit the "Share" when you mouseover the image. Click "Post to Website" and then "Get Link Code." It's the second link. BTW, I'm not saying you don't know how to do it, just trying to help.

Nice water shots.

Personally, I'd go for a faster shutter. 1/1000 or better in the sunny conditions you've got. At f10 and f7.1 you've got a lot of room to open it up, increase the s/s and really stop the water.
Overall they look good - did you do unsharp mask on them? Personal taste again, but I'd go stronger. The last shot needs to rotate clockwise maybe 1 degree or 1.5
cheers.

You are right, I should go faster on them. I kept increasing my shutter speed and stopped at 1/500 as they looked good when I chimped them. I have another month until fall swim starts and will try with some faster shutter speeds.
I did unsharp mask all of them. I would have to good back and look, but most of the swimming shots are done at .3/180/0
I rotated the final shot a couple times before going with what I posted. I actually had it a bit more counterclockwise to begin with before I settled on this.

No other suggestions?

The last one is swimming uphill, needs to be adjusted.
What setting were you using? I can get 1/500 indoors, on a sunny day you should have been at 1/2000+ easy
I dont like the first... to tight of a crop for that angle. If you were lower it could have worked. Since you have access keep working on positioning yourself depending on the stroke.

I wish I could have been lower for that shot. She was taking her last breath before the wall and I was sitting on the deck.
Good stuff, thank you.

fast shutter speeds and a very low aperture is what you need
also for strokes such as breaststroke and butterfly try to get right in front of them and low to the deck
