OK... so there's a theme developing here from my first day of track and field. I'll stop at this point! These images are of the triple jump variety...

The expresion on the woman in the last one is priceless. Good catch. The rest of the shots are great, also.

Nice job as usual. Does every woman on earth have that little belly button post thing now? I suddenly see them everywhere.

Great Job of using DOF. really enjoyed viewing your shots. I would love to see some shots of them with the sand pit in the forground,

I shot the whole event on a 300mm lens so as to minimise the DOF - made it tough to get pit and jumper in the frame at the same time - the wider angle stuff will just have to wait until next time! There are some shots of long jump here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=73728 that do show the jumper relative to the sand pit. Thanks for your comments JeM.

Nice!
I notice a few of the images were taken at 420mm.
Were you using the 300/2.8L with an extender?

Thanks drisley... yep for some of the shots , I used the 1.4x extender. At my working distance, it was often a little bit too tight when the jumper hit the pit, particularly when they landed and fell to one side or the other.
