great shots!!!! can I ask what gear you were using?

They're all nice shots, but the first one ROCKS! The composition with the flag in the center, the colors, and the vignetting all work perfectly in that shot.

I completely love the PP you use on you're boxing shots, but the first one just works so well for me. I must also ask, how did you get into a training session with Roger Huerta?

Thank you, thank you.

Gear- 40D, a used prime, and a couple of Tamron lenses.

I must also ask, how did you get into a training session with Roger Huerta?

Cory Rodriguiz, the boxer pictured with Roger, invited me. I knew I was shooting a closed to the public workout with a "world contender", but I was thinking it was going to be with another boxer; I didn't know it was going to be a figure from the MMA world.

I've met Roger before, actually, as I've been shooting MMA for almost 3 years now:

I really like the first shot…the combination of the facial expression, the sky and the flag centered…all 3 grab my attention. Nice work.

Thanks. Usually one doesn't want "poles coming out of heads" in the background, but I thought it might work this time around.

Congrats man, I'm doing training sessions with smaller MMA guys. Nothing on you're level, but its still a fun time.

Thanks. Though as far as my "level" goes, it's still very much on the small, regional level, with a few brushes of fame in the mix. It would be easy to embellish my accolades and standing in the industry with a few well chosen shots, but the truth is I'm usually shooting small shows with unknown names for no compensation. Hell, even when I'm shooting boxing under bright lights in the biggest venue in town, I'm still not getting paid, even if I'm the best of a dozen photogs in the building.

they look HDR ..am I on the right track ?

SnapLocally.com

To be perfectly honest, I don't know anything about HDR, or what other techniques other photographers are employing. I find what I like from event to event, and whatever works for me at the time, I go with it.
