Just picked up the nifty fifty and the first chance I used it was for pictures of my daughter on prom night. I now know why everyone is talking about this lens. It is great for the money. I love the saturation in the colors. Will use it a lot in the future.
I used the LumiQuest for the fill light. Would liked to have had just a tad more light on his face in the second picture.

Nice pics, but in the second shot you cut off his arm. It seems to happen a lot with waist-up shots, I noticed the same thing in some probm pics in another thread. Is this something you can re-crop?

This was the way it was shot and will have to wait until next time to keep the arm. Have another picture that will also work.

A shame about the cut arm. I'm curious why you chose to pose all the girls in a line like that. I don't mind lines, but this looks a bit too...straight. Everyone's in profile and standing with distance between each other. It looks slightly "police lineup" to me. Are they looking at someone else taking a picture of them from the left?

Claire,
You can imagine 20 parents telling them all to do something...and look here. It was one of those you just took what you could get and the daughter really did not want to have pictures anyway.
I have one I can crop to get both in that will look real nice.
Thanks for the comments as they are always welcome.
