A sunny day for a change. Actually, too much harsh sunlight. Here are a few Jags and Porsches with some other types to follow later....

Yes, two wheels off the ground, purely by G-force.

And a special pic, just for Belmondo. Note the summer stetson :)

That's a fine looking hat, Kenny. Not terribly different from the straw hat I wear 12 months a year whilst chasing trains here in the desert. (Very hard finding them in my size --- XXXXL)

BTW, I got so excited about the hat I almost forgot to mention the photos. Excellent, of course.

Lovely shots Ken. What was the Porsche doing on two wheels at Lodge?

Now... is that because you have a lot of brains to keep cool or are you stuck in an '80s "big hair" timewarp? :p ;)

Wonderful job Ken. I like the Jag #50 but the pic of the Porche #50 is hot.
Nice sombrero.

Great shots as usual Kenny - should have there with Northern Saloons but unfortunately work came first ! :D

PS - the stetson didn't shrink too much in the hail stones then?!

Work taking first place. I must say I had the same problem :)

Just to stop you feeling as though you missed something. Here are the winners of Northen Saloons classes A and B. Rupert appeared on the NS list, Richard started from the very back of the grid and the shot is of the very last lap as they are coming through Deer Leap.

Again, last lap for class B.

He did it for three or four laps in sucession. Pretty soft suspension as you can see from the compression on the near side. Very strange style of driving as I have never seen anyone lift both wheels there before. There isn't a kerb to give it a lift, it was simply throwing it hard into the corner, very hard.

Thanks Kenny - great shots again. I think your job is slightly better than my job! :)

Mmm... come to think of it, he was at Combe a couple of weeks back and I noticed him running pretty soft there too. Must be the way he likes it.

The Porsche on two wheels is interesting but my favourite is the blue one above (I think that's a #56 on the bonnet). It's a lovely clear picture with a great background.

Where was this? At first I thought you'd been to the CSMA at Brands Hatch but it doesn't look right.

NIce shots Ken, I must try up at Lodge corner next time I get to Oulton, it was a great days racing with plenty of variety, did you catch Andrew Morrisons big shunt? I managed to catch him going over the grass but he disappeared from view on impact.

Cheers
Ian

It was Oulton Park Kevin. The blue of that Porsche is superb. That shot was taken with the polarizer in the 300 2.8IS and it tends to deepen the colours somewhat, but even without it is a stunning looking car.

Ian, I just caught the edge of the accident. Poor Andrew, I really felt for him, knowing him over the years. Shouldn't have happened to such a nice guy. I posted a caption competition shot of the aftermath on 1010ths as I know he will forgive me. You need to try Lodge for sure. Next time you are going make sure you meet up with me and I'll give you the tour. Glen will confirm I am a pretty good guide around the circuit. Oh, do you have any shots of Andy Wilson in white MG Metro 99? He only lasted a lap but is after a picture. I have one of him in the morning practice taken at Druids but I'm sure he would appreciate another.

Great shots Ken as usual. Really like #6 in the first set of shots you posted. Positioning in the frame is perfect, and I like the angle the car is at on the road.

Cheers,

Simon.

Okay - the best shot you have here are the ones where you are very low compare to the vehical - how did you get those shots? Are the cars cresting a hill or are you actually getting really low when you shoot? Cheers.

I'm convinced Ken has got a shovel attachment for his monopod and there are now holes all around Oulton Park ;)
As ever, great shots.

Ssshhhhh.... don't say that! Dr. Palmer might hear you and he gets real twitchy about his grass. He was well upset with the rallycross boys at Brands last year - too much offroading. You'll get Ken into trouble!

They filled my hole in at Lodge, but the rabbits are digging new ones at an incredible rate.

To answer the question abut shooting height. The barriers are about 4ft high and unless I have no choice because of angle, I shoot with the 300 2.8IS at barrier height. The shots looking upwards, I am actually lower than the cars coming out of the corner. It is a favourite spot because of the old lodge in the background. I also take shots of them coming uphill towards me out of Deer Leap which isn't easy as they are flat out heading for the finish straight, and even more difficult as I aim to get them in the shadow, or between shadows, both effects look good.

To wind up this thread, I must also point out there were other cars running apart from the Jags and Porkers as this shows:
http://www.motorpix.co.uk/images61/op-12.jpg

And even an ex-BTCC car:
http://www.motorpix.co.uk/images61/op-13.jpg

I am now trying to decide which meeting needs me the most this weekend.Classics, or MSV FF with Radicals and Monopostos. Hmmmm.... decisions. Oh, and I have been invited to Mallory by the Legends gang. Help....... !!!

Hi Ken
