One of these days I'm going to take a chaise lounge out there and spend all day catching the different light on the mountains.

Very Nice! Where is that located? I love that red stripe!

This is a prominent feature of Red Rock National Park, immediately West of Las Vegas, NV, USA. When I say "immediate," I mean close. It's no more than 15 minutes from my house.

Nice shot. I'd imagine the colors might be even more intense earlier/later in the day.

In this shot, the mountain was in the cloud shadow. I waited around for a half hour or so, but the sun and clouds just weren't cooperating. It is spectacular when the mountain is highlighted by sunlight, and surrounded by shadow.

This was taken just a few minutes after the first one I posted. This scene is down the road a couple of miles, and is visable from the first location. Here I used my 17-85mm at 85mm, ISO 100, 1/100, f/8, and a CP filter. Incidentally, I just got PS CS2 and Velvia Vision, and this is my first attempt at using them together.
