More Roses and a little birdie. (56K warning)

Took these at my moms house yesterday, Rebel XT, Tripod, 70-200L. I seem to be having focus problems but due to testing today I think it may be my understanding (or lack of) the AF system. I've been shooting 35mm for a while but the DSLR is new to me. Anyway, if you have any helpful suggestions of observations I'd be glad to hear them.

All images are straight from the camera other than resizing. So, do these look sharp or soft?

The first and second shoot look sharp to me.

i realy like the second one because of it's contrast.

but when i see the crop i çan't believe it's the same picture:rolleyes:

The shots are great! But the frames are a bit bright for me.
