Hello to all,

this weekend i will be shooting a triathlon, one question that i have is should i shoot in RAW or JPG, i love the ability to have control over the image in raw
but i need the speed of jpeg any thoughts

All I've got to say is that going through 1,000+ jpg's is slow enough, do it in RAW? If you're shooting one day, you can get away with it. Multiple days? Forget about it. Been there ... not going back!

The only difference between Raw and JPG is the file size. With most of today's editing programs there is no difference in PP time.

Exactly... I always shoot RAW. Even for my biggest event which is usually 15,000 + images in 4 days. Lightroom handles .jpeg and RAW the same... but if I NEED the ability to do serious editing I have that option.

Everyone has their own opinion and that is mine. I know "if you get it right, you dont need RAW" but I like the option....especially with second shooters and poor light.

I like it because the highlight recovery is so much better with RAW. Shooting 3:30 start baseball with white uniforms I love the extra range I get with RAW to tone down those whites. I just hate the 12 meg files:( I'm definitely not trying to start a RAW vs JPG debate, everyone does what works for them.
