Well I did a self portrait...C+C please

This wasn't intended to be a pro self portrait or anything, just a new ID for DeviantArt.

Any comments / critiques would be much appreciated, but first off, I realize that a) It may appear too dark on some peoples monitors...but I haven't calibrated my monitor or anything (its 3yrs old anyway), because it looks fine in PS, but then a little darker in Firefox, I did want it quite dark though, had to set the mood... b) I realize my right eye is cut off a bit, but I don't feel like taking another shot tonight :rolleyes: and c) next time I should pull my hair out of my eyes. hehe.

Hey I think it turned out alright for having to hold my hand up there on the shutter(no remote yet :mad: )

i think you did a great job! i like the hair in your face, the yellowish tint, gives it that 70's polaroid look and i'm not so worried about your eye being cut off. it looks like a bad picture gone good. reminds me of those bad photographs which have a made a come back in the artsy fartsy world.

Light around the neck is distracting and and I assume thats lip jewelry and It's not dominate enough and looks like somethings on my screen. The rest of the critique you did yourself LOL. ie: eye being cut off. Keep up the good work.

It's a very good shot. I think it would look better in black & white

I don't think its too dark so much as too much of it is dark. It'd be better reframed so the lit side if your face has more emphasis, otherwise a little too much of the photo is of nothing.

Yeah I did the yellow at random, didn't really try any other colors, I was thinking of doing a B&W But I wanted to keep the color of my eye in there.

Yeah, Citizen, too much of it is dark, funny I just noticed that like literally 5 mins ago after staring at it....the lit side definitely needs more emphasis.
