So I'm currently travelling in Asia right now and I was a bit shocked to find out that one of the legs on my Gitzo tripod was a bit flimspy (is that even a word?). I notice that the screws holding that leg was coming loose, but I don't have the right screwdriver to screw it back in tightly. As a result, there is completely no resistance on the third leg. While it's not a big problem per se, it does piss me off when the third leg just collapses into my fingers and it does hurt! Does anyone know of a way to tighten the screws on the leg? I can't seem to find the right screwdriver anywhere to do the job. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Can't help you there. The proper wrench (torx type) came with the tripod...you should always make it a habit to carry a small tool kit with you when you're on the road just for times like this. The simple act of folding a leg in and out many, many times will over time cause a screw or two to come loose. FWIW, I have a Gitzo 2540, and the same thing happened to me while out hiking.

If you're unable to come across a torx wrench in Asia, see if you can get a hold of some duct tape. Wrap the tape over the screw and around the leg...this will prevent the screw from backing out any further and will also keep you from losing it if it does.

Never in a million years would I imagine the screw coming loose!

I'm not sure if I can given I'm in China at the moment. I've sent an e-mail to Gitzo and see where I might be able to get a hold of a similar wrench. I guess the problem isn't all that big because if I unfold and setup the tripod, it's still stable. The big problem is packing it and carrying it around.
