Use a tripod, long macro lens, and shutter release cable. A 20D or 1D Mk 2 might help with their rapid shooting rate, but it's still luck unless you use a sound or light trigger. I'd adjust the angle too. The ones I did on this page (http://www.mrwild.co.nz/Featured/The_Macro_World/index.html) were done like I described, in single shot mode with a 300D. You might like to use a clear bowl too, with colored plastic and crumpled tinfoil underneath.

I was thinking of getting a sigma 70-200 f4 (not sure if it was 200 or 300 but it was cheap) have you heard anything about that lense?
Good idea with the foil though, sounds really kewl.

I've never heard of a Sigma 70-200 F4, just the Canon 70-200 F4L and the Sigma 70-200 F2.8. Neither are macro lenses so won't help much for this type of shot. Have a read of reviews of them here (http://www.slo-foto.net/reviews-56-page1.html). Also, look on this page (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=183198&is=GREY), you'll see the ratio is 1:4.8 - a good macro lens like the Canon 100mm F2.8 macro is 1:1 or so. The 70-200 lenses all tend to be really good, just not for macro work.

Yep, I owned the APO version of it briefly before I returned it. It's 1:2 and would be better for macro than the ones I mentioned above, I don't think I used it in macro so I can't really say how it'd go. I returned it because F5.6 was too slow for the photos I wanted to take - ie you could only use it outside in bright light at F5.6, inside it was too slow to be useful. If you do get one, get the APO version. Build quality was average, I had a little trouble getting the switches into the position I wanted some times, but I always managed it. It took nice photos outside in good light.
