I think Sean knows this one. This pic is after the flood, when all the work to prevent another one, was completed. There is a mark on the wall of the grey building at the very far left of the pic, that shows the height of the water. It's 6 feet up the wall of that building!

As Ken said, it's a big Van der Graaf generator. I've only been in there the one time, and don't have any pictures. I asked one time to go in and take a 360° panorama, but it never panned out. It goes down another floor from the level you see, so the door on the outside is not the bottom of it. The bottom has a lot of electronics and computers for the experimental stations that feed off the VdG, and there are metal ladders and platforms to the various levels of the machine.
