The county it's in is part of the Catskills but the mountain that the waterfall is in is known by a different mountain name. So essentially, the mountain the waterfall is in is also considered part of the Catskills. I hope this makes sense.

I spent a fair amount of time all over the desert many years ago and as Roy says there are many places that have the same look and feel. I have no idea exactly where it is but here is my analysis.

1. The general vegatation indicate moderate elevation with some seasonal rain....

2. Only a few scattered smaller saguro cactus..

3. Hard rock fromations.

4. The upper flag is US and the lower is Arizona

It is dfinitely Arizona because of the flag and because of the cactus. The saguro cactus is only found in Arizona and northern Mexico. (OK, Maybe a VERY, VERY few in Nevada and California)

The relative sparcity of smaller saguro cactus indicates that it is at he edge of the cactus range.

The Harder rocks and moderarate chapparral eliminates many areas.

Jim, welcome to WAIN!
I'll tell you one thing though...no matter how much you try to break it down, actually visiting a WAIN helps greatly...:)
Tortilla Flat General Store (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=tortilla+flat&sll=33.526442,-111.390059&sspn=0.01406,0.027874&gl=us&g=Apache+Junction,+Pinal,+Arizona&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Tortilla+Flat,+Maricopa,+Arizona&ll=33.526388,-111.390134&spn=0.006994,0.013937&z=17&layer=c&cbll=33.526439,-111.390051&panoid=_C19ISqOf8ZQru0oRUtjJw&cbp=12,177.33,,0,-6.43)?

Yes, sorry, Jim - forgot to welcome you - but it is early Monday morning here... :)

You got it, Ken! As you can see in the photo (judging the car models) it was a while ago since I was there last. The place is called "Superstition Saloon" and is the general store in Tortilla Flat - AZ.

Over to you!

My GUESS is that Roy's hunch is not far off

OR ???

BTW I am a Newbie and I hope this kind of open comment is permitted

Of course, I had arrived at the same conclusions, using similar investigative techniques.........;)

Welcome to WAIN, Narwhal

Commonly, I'll say no...but I suppose it could be argued the other way
