Most of the members here are too young to remember Woodstock. I just wanted to share this video slideshow tribute along with one of my favorite songs by Mountain. I think it captures the essence of the Woodstock experience very well. I wish I had been there, it can never happen again. Some of my friends went and have never forgotten the great feeling they got at the festival of peace and love. There's a chance someone on the forum attended, if so please share the experience and pictures if you have them.

That was my high school graduation year ('69). I passed on going to Woodstock to go to other R&R parties/events closer to home (Southern California) but we definitely were paying attention. Woodstock signified an era that even then was losing its "magic", but...

I miss Janis and Jimi.

I was on my NROTC summer cruise on a DE somewhere in the South Atlantic at the time of Woodstock, not of a mind to attend then. I only wised up later and embrace the philosophy expressed there to this day. Yeah, I miss Janis and Jimi too, both great and unique talents. I only learned recently while watching a documentary on Woodstock that Jimi's "Star Spangled Banner" was totally improv, an amazing rendition.

Woodstock took place just over 120 miles from my house...several of us set out to make what would normally be a little less than a 3 hour trip...after 9 hours on the road and being less than 1/2 way there...we returned home...grabbed several cases of beer and a radio...then drove up to our cabin and spent the weekend holding our own festival.
