I am ready to jump to L:D .
The question I have for you all is which of the following two lenses which I have in my aresenal do I sell? Keeping both is not permitted because I need the funds from the sale. I will also be selling the 75-300 lens.
Just so we are all on the same page I do general photography (family, dog, maybe some good portraits someday, sports and so on) I am learning the hobby/art and want the 70-200 to photograph my son's sports events. You can see my equipment in my signature and get a better idea of where I am.
1 - Canon 28-135 IS or
2 - Tamron 28-75 XR Di 2.8
I would do a poll but I can't seem to find that option so your replies are welcomed.
SOLICITATIONS ARE PERMITTED:lol:

I like both lenses. In my colliection, they both make sense (at least to me). I would keep the Tamron, however, in your circumstances.

Sell the Canon 28-135 and the 75-300. You are buying the 70-200, right?

Why would you keep the 75-300? You're going to get better crops from a 70-200 than the 75-300 ;)
And between the 2, get rid of the 28-135

Sorry about that gasrocks and drewmk2. That's my plan. I'm going to sell one of the two that I questioned about and then the 75-300. Thanks for the replies. I'll add this to my original post so there is no more confusion.

I would have to say it is clearly the canon 28-135 IS that has to go. The tamron has a good reputation, whereas the canon is rather more consumer and will overlap your new lens heavily.
Neither is a bad lens before there is a hail of protest about the ability of the canon lens.
You have the ability to do a back to back from 28 to 75mm, so test it for yourself and see if there is a clear winner. You will be using the 70-200 for 70 and above hopefully.
Worth trying and let us all know your findings please.

Really the only thing you can fault the 28-135 is that it is a slow lens. It is considered one of better non-L lenses

IMHO bye bye Canon 28-135, keep the Tamron.

I'll add my vote of selling the 28-135IS and keeping the Tamron, the extra speed of the Tamron will make up for its lack of IS.

Yeah keep the Tamron. I'd take the extra speed over IS any day.

What do you want for the 28-135?

Ditch the 28-135 in this case. 28-75 Xr Di + 70-200/4L is a good combo.

Most of you have confirmed my suspicions about which lens to part with. While I like both it is time to let the Canon go. I will be coming up with a price for this in the next day. Offers are certainly welcome on this lens while I research. It is pristine and has a clear filter for protection. I don't have it in front of me to give the make of the filter. If I don't hear anything else in the form of PM I will certainly post in the Marketplace before looking to sell elsewhere. "L"..................Here I come:D

What kind of sports and how close are you to the field/court/pitch?
I've been shooting my sons Little League baseball, and have been using my 100-400 L IS exclusively. The difference between 200mm and 400mm is worth consideration. That is, if you have the additional $800 to pay for it...

Looking at your lens list, I would say sell the 75-300 also..........TRUST ME, when you get the 70-200 f4L, the 75-300 will not find a place in your bag.
