Gray catbird - Dumetella carolinensis. We have one in the back yard/woods, but hard to capture.
Very nice shot!

Thanks! I found out that I could get much better shots if I kept my shutter speed up, even with a tripod. I pushed my ISO to 800 with no problems as far as noise on the 20D.

Great shot, I think this is what we call a balck cap, but I am probably wrong. Why are they called "Cat Birds"?

I believe that it was George Bernard Shaw who said something about England and America being two countries separated by a common language.

RobertWGross, I live within a mile of Shaws birthplace so I should know if he said that or not, but I have no idea.
Tupe, I googled and found "It is extremely sensitive, and will follow an intruder to a considerable distance, wailing and mewing as it passes from one tree to another" at http://www.audubon.org/bird/BoA/F12_G2c.html. I guess I should have googled first and asked questions later. Anyway that article goes on to say it is one of the most despised bird after the Crow, but from that photo i would seem hard to believe.

I used the Sigma 500mm f/4.5 EX APO HSM on a 20D and Wemberley Head.
